Customer Relationship Management (CRM)- a Must for all businesses
Unsolicited Electronic Messages Ordinance (UEMO) was implemented to regulate
the sending of mass electronic messages such as via email, fax, SMS as well as pre-recorded voice messages. The new regulation, however, will not
be applied to 1 to 1 telemarketing.
Founder of DMA, Mr. Mike Chan, pointed out that the company has never deployed any pre-recorded voice system and messages to promote products and
services for its clients. "People love interactions. Those pre-recorded messages would only make customers feel disgusting. Even though 1 to 1
telemarketing is more costly, DMA would still emphasis on this personal calling channel as project consultants could interact and give immediate

rich and informative database. For 20 years, Mike Chan, CEO of Direct

Recently, an owner
of a transportation company bought a CD from some CD selling company that
contains 20, 000 private and commercial fax number for promotion. However,
he found that the CD contains only non-designated list, i.e. fax numbers
but without name of receiver nor classifications according to commercial
type. It is therefore difficult to utilize the list.
Follow- up: Next
Magazine's Consultation with Direct Marketing Practitioners
Mr. Chan from Direct Marketing of Asia Limited (DMA) believes that CDs
that contain only non-designated lists are not effective for promotion.
Promotion fax of this kind will not reach decision-makers as the recipient
is not addressed.
DMA's fax broadcasting is more targeted and recipient is named on each
promotion fax. He further mentioned that charges for fax broadcasting
service at DMA averages to $0.3 - $0.6. Since it is difficult to get the
database for fax broadcasting, database is therefore a precious asset
of the company and DMA will not sell the database to others. Customers
are only granted the right to rent the database.

Consultation with Consumer Council
Ms. Lau from Consumer Council said selling CDs that contain non-designated
list is tricky. It is difficult to check whether the fax numbers are real.
In addition, the non-designated fax numbers are useless since the type
of fax numbers cannot be recognized. She suggested consumers should ask
for details about the CDs before purchasing.

Mike Chan, the
founder of Direct Marketing of Asia Advertising Services Company, waited
for the lift when he came home as usual. After waiting for more than 20
minutes, he discovered that the lift was out of order on that day. He
was furious but soon he realized that he had missed the notice about the
lift repair shown in the notice broad in previous days.

15 millions into Key2hk.com in 3 Year for Further Development
Mike Chan, the founder of Key2hk.com, plans to further invest 15 millions
in addition to the early investment of 2 millions in internet business.
Mike claimed that the major source of income of Key2hk.com is come from
advertising and it is expected to have profit till the end of 2002.
Currently, Key2hk.com have a membership of 1500 and the number of web
viewers reached 11,000 daily. Key2hk.com is planning a property owner
web page with household estates offices. The web page will be ready for
the property owner to discuss freely in March and Mike predicted the page

Office Face Keen Competition from Direct Marketing Company
Apart from the impact of increasing popularity of internet, fax machine
and fast delivery, Post Office has to face other challenges in direct
delivery as posed by private companies.
Direct marketing companies are probably the main sources of challenges
to Post Office. The managing director of Direct Marketing of Asia Advertising

Professor Chan Kwun Yiu was invited to be the honor guest of "The Most
