Unsolicited Electronic Messages Ordinance
(UEMO) was implemented to regulate the sending of mass
electronic messages such as via email, fax, SMS as well
as pre-recorded voice messages. The new regulation,
however, will not be applied to 1 to 1 telemarketing.
Founder of DMA, Mr. Mike Chan, pointed out that the
company has never deployed any pre-recorded voice system
and messages to promote products and services for its
clients. “People love interactions. Those pre-recorded
messages would only make customers feel disgusting.
Even though 1 to 1 telemarketing is more costly, DMA
would still emphasis on this personal calling channel
as project consultants could interact and give immediate
solutions to the customers, and ultimately, bring in
sales and business for the company.”
Telemarketing can be classified into “Cold-calling”
and “CRM”. Customer Relationship Management (CRM)- a
means for company to keep and maintain relationship
with its loyal and potential customers. Common ways
of CRM are offering services discounts, sending up-to-date
company news, regular products or services update to
selected customers. Mr. Chan comments that there is
a high market potential in “CRM” services since marketers
would become more knowledgeable about the importance
of maintaining a loyal customer.
